It is important to plant olive trees to protect and keep the Palestinian land for the Palestinians. Sponsor an olive tree
You can have a tree planted in Palestine in your own or somebody else's name. Sponsoring a tree costs 20 euro per tree. With this you also support the foundation to raise awareness in the Dutch language about the occupation and colonisation of Palestinian land and the reality of living in Palestine.

The Plant an Olive Tree (Plant een Olijfboom) community supports Palestinians in need through the Palestine Fund. Human to human. 100% of the donations go to Palestine.

Sponsor a complete olive grove
Plant an olive grove in Palestine with family, friends and others. When you collect 40 trees or more an olive grove can be planted. You can pay the amount of 800 euro in one payment, or we can create a personal sponsor page for you on our website.
Through a personal sponsor page you can organise an initiative to motivate people close to you to donate trees as well. You can collect trees per calendar year, that will be planted in the rainy season in the beginning of the next year.

Travel to Palestine
Each year Plant een Olijfboom supports several trips to Palestine organised by our Palestinian partners, like the Joint Advocacy Initiative and To Be There. Discover Palestine while planting trees in February, learning about Land Day in March, picking olives in October or celebrating Christmas in December. There is also a trip specifically for youth until the age of 30.
Each trip consists of learning and doing. With an international group you help farmers to harvest olives or plant trees. You visit different places and organisations. This way you will learn a lot in a short time about the reality of life in Palestine.

Background and Importance
About one million Palestinian olive trees have been lost since 2001. The destruction of trees goes on to this very day. The consequences are serious because many Palestinian farmers and their families are dependent on the income coming out of olive trees.
Olive trees are cut down for construction of the wall, expansion of settlements and construction of highways which connect these settlements with each other and with Israel.
This Israeli policy is a violation of international law and is consistently and unequivocally condemned as illegal by the international community.
Plant een Olijfboom plants olive trees in areas where farmers risk losing their land through confiscation by the state of Israel.
Act and volunteer
Would you like to help Plant een Olijfboom as a volunteer? Great! Although speaking Dutch comes in handy with our work, there are all kinds of things non-Dutch speakers can do. Skills in design, promotion, proof reading English texts, can be put to good use. Also organising a lecture, event, sponsor run or dinner to raise money and awareness within your own network or the English speaking community, is very valuable. With this you help us to reach more people and inform people about the reality of occupation and colonisation of Palestine. That way we can show more solidarity and help farmers protect their land and livelihood from confiscation.
Find your tree
If you have planted one or more trees you can find them through the database that was set up by our Palestinian partners. Your tree will be planted during the planting season from December to March after you sponsored the tree. Click on the button to find out the name of the farmer and where your tree is planted.
Foundation Plant een Olijfboom
Plant een Olijfboom works with different partners in Palestine to plant olive trees and since 2021 also in other ways through our Palestine Fund. This fund makes it possible to help where help is urgently needed. We provided support for medical and psychological teams during and after the military attack on Gaza in May 2021. However our main objective is to raise awareness to help change te reality of occupation, and plant olive trees to resist colonising Palestinian land. Also we help and encourage people to travel to Palestine.
At the end of 2015 the foundation Plant een Olijfboom was established by individuals with an urgent passion for justice and equality. To build an independent organisation and expand the successes of the Olive Tree Campaign in the Netherlands, that was about to end in 2015. By then around 17.000 olive trees had been sponsored and a good foundation had been built. Between 2016 and 2023 the work grew quickly and in the first seven years of the foundation over 143.000 trees were sponsored. Plant een Olijfboom hopes to continue until Palestine is free, which hopefully will be very soon.
